USES OF RIGHT FORM OF VERBS
Subject- এর person এবং verb- এর Tense অনুযায়ী verb এর সঠিক form ব্যবহার করাই হচ্ছে uses of right form of verb.
Rule - 1: Universal truth is a habitual fact ( always, regularly, usually, occasionally, seldom, now and then প্রভৃতি যুক্ত sentence ) প্রকাশে সর্বদাই simple present tense ব্যবহার করা হয় ।
উল্লেখ্য এক্ষেত্রে verb- এর subject third person singular number হলে verb এর সাথে s বা, es যোগ হয়।
Problem: Rattan seldom ( come ) in the class.
Solution: Rattan seldom comes in the class.
Problem: Summer ( to be ) simply a hot season.
Solution: Summer is simply a hot season.
Problem: Eclipse ( occur ) in the day.
Solution: Eclipse occurs in the day.
Rule - 2 : Negative বা Interrogative sentence এক্ষেত্রে ব্রাকেটের verb ছাড়া আর যদি কোন Auxiliary না থাকে তবে ব্রাকেটের verb টি অবিকল বসে সাথে অতিরিক্ত হিসেবে subject এর person ও number অনুসারে do , does কিংবা did ব্যবহার করা হয় ।
Prob: Ahsan not ( smoke ) regularly.
Sol: Ahsan does not smoke regularly.
Prob: Azad ( want ) to be a member of British Council Library last year.
Sol: Did Azad want to be a member of British Council Library last year?
Rule - 3: Sentence now, at this moment, at present প্রভৃতি phrase থাকলে verb এর continuous form বসে ।
Prob: He ( receive ) driving now.
Sol: He is receiving driving now.
Rule - 4: sentence just, just now, by this time, already, ever, lately, recently, in the meantime, yet প্রভৃতি থাকলে present perfect tense হয় । তবে yet থাকলে sentence টি অবশ্যই negative হবে ।
Prob: Mithu ( complete ) his course yet.
Sol: Mithu has not completed his course yet.
Rule - 5: sentence since/for থাকলে এবং verb action বর্তমান কালে প্রসারিত থাকলে verb এর present perfect continuous tense হয় ।
Prob: Babu ( prepare ) his notes since morning.
Sol: Babu has been preparing his notes since morning.
Rule - 6: Last night, last week, yesterday, before, ago, long since of word/phrase থাকলে verb এর past form বসে।
Prob: Masum and Ferdous ( enjoy ) a nice film last week.
Sol: Masum and Ferdous enjoyed a nice film last week.
Rule - 7: Since দ্বারা যুক্ত সময় প্রকাশক clause এবং কার্য প্রকাশক clause এর ক্ষেত্রে সময় প্রকাশক clause এর verb present হলে কার্য প্রকাশক clause এর verb হবে simple past tense . সময় প্রকাশক clause এর verb past হলে , কার্য প্রকাশক clause এর verb হবে past perfect tense.
Prob: It is a long since ( mail ) me.
Sol: It is a long since mailed me.
Prob: It was three years since we (contact) you
Sol: It was three years since we had contacted you.
Rule - 8: একটি বাক্যে দুইটি verb থাকলে এবং এই দুইটির কোন একটি noun এর অবস্থা বুঝালে verb টি participle করতে হয় , অর্থাৎ verb টির সহিত ing যুক্ত হয়।
Prob: I saw the bird ( to sit ) on the roof.
Ans: I saw the bird sitting on the roof.
Prob: Would you mind ( to open ) the window ?
Ans: Would you mind opening the window?
Prob: I heard him ( to say ) this.
Ans: I heard him saying this.
Rule - 9: Before after past perfect tense ব্যবহৃত হয় এবং অন্যটি past indefinite tense হয়।
Prob: the patient ( to die ) before the doctor came.
Ans: the patient had died before the doctor came.
Prob: the rain ( to come ) after the game started.
Ans: the rain had come after the game started.
Rule - 10: Sentence 4 were , had , if ইচ্ছাসূচক অর্থ প্রকাশ করলে সর্বশেষ subject এর পর auxiliary verb “ would have " বসে এবং পরবর্তী মূল verb এর past participle হয়।
Prob: Had I been a king, I ( help ) the poor.
Ans: Had I been a king, I would have helped the poor.
Prob: If I ( to try ), I would have succeed.
Ans: If I tried, I would have succeeded.
Rule - 11: Interrogative sentence - what, where, when, who, which, whose, why, how subject এর পূর্বে tense ও person অনুযায়ী to be verb যোগ করতে হয়।
Prob: Why Mrs. Pitt ( look ) so angry?
Ans. Why does Mrs. Pitt look so angry?
Rule - 12: No sooner had… then, scarcely had when hardly had before থাকলে ১ ম ব্রাকেটের verb কে past participle করতে হয় এবং ২ য় ব্রাকেটের verb কে past form করতে হয়।
Prob: No sooner had he ( see ) the police than he ( run ) away.
Ans. No sooner had he seen the police than he ran away.
Rule - 13: Had better, had rather, would rather, let, verb present must, need, dare ইত্যাদির পর প্রদত্ত a form হয় এবং উক্ত to উঠে যায়।
Prob: You had better ( to go ) home.
Ans. You had better go home.
Prob: I will not let you ( to enter ) the class room.
Ans. I will not let you enter the classroom.
Rule - 15; Sentence would that এর পরে could বসে প্রদত্ত verb এর present form বসে I
Prob: Would that I ( go ) to college?
Ans. Would that I could go to college.
Rule - 16: To be এবং having এর পরে মূল verbs এর past participle হয় ।
Prob: He ran away having ( take ) the money.
Ans. He ran away, having taken the money.
Prob: The principal desired the notice to be ( hang ).
Ans. The principal desired the notice to be hung.
Rule - 17: প্রদত্ত Verb এর পূর্বে mind, worth, without, past, cannot help, could not help, with a view to, look forward to, would you mind, verb get used to এবং preposition থাকলে ব্রাকেটের verb এর সাথে ing যোগ করতে হয়।
Prob: I went to the library with a view to (read) there.
Ans. I went to the library with a view to reading there.
Rule - 18: It is high time, it is time, wish, fancy ইত্যাদি থাকলে ব্রাকেটের verb এর past form হয়।
Prob: I fancy I ( turn ) pale.
Ans. I fancy I turned pale.
Prob I wish I ( sing ) a song.
Ans. I wish I sang a song.
Rule - 19: As though, as if, wish to be এর জায়গায় were বসে ।
Prob: I wish I ( to be ) a king.
Ans. I wish I were a king.
Rule - 20: Every each, one of থাকলে প্রবর্ত verbs এর singular হয়।
Prob: One of the boys ( be ) absent yesterday
Ans. One of the boys was absent yesterday.
Rule - 21: Can, could, may, might, shall, should will, would ইত্যাদি auxiliary verb হিসাবে ব্যবহৃত হলে মূল present tense হবে।
Prob: I can ( do ) the work.
Ans. I can do the work.
Prob: You may ( come ) tomorrow.
Ans. You may come tomorrow
Rule - 22 : কোন Sentence যদি there দ্বারা শুরু হয় এবং তার পর যদি singular number থাকে তাহলে there এর পরে singular verb বসে । আর plural number থাকলে there এর পর plural verb বসে।
Prob: There ( be ) a high school in our village.
Ans. There is a high school in our village.
Prob: There ( be ) two high schools in our village.
Ans. There are two high schools in our village.
Rule - 23: ' Let ' এর পরে verb present indefinite tense হয়।
Prob: I let the other boys ( ot use ) it.
Ans. I let the other boys use it.
Prob: Let us all ( togo ) enjoy the circus.
Ans. Let us all go enjoy the circus.
Rule - 24: ' Need ' model ক্রিয়াপদ হিসাবে ব্যবহৃত হলে, কোন অবস্থাতেই এই ক্রিয়া পদটির সাথে ' s ' যুক্ত হবে না।
Prob: The old man ( need ) not work all day long.
Ans. The old man need not work all day long.
Rule - 25: কোন সময়ের উল্লেখ থাকে না এমন sentence- এ যদি always, regularly, sometimes, often, generally, daily, everyday, occasionally, usually, normally ইত্যাদি থাকে তবে present Indefinite tense হয়।
Prob: He always ( disturb ) the class.
Ans. He always disturbs the class.
Prob: A good boy ( prepare ) his lessons regularly.
Ans. A good boy prepares his lessons regularly.
Rule - 26: বর্তমানে চলছে এমন কোন কাজ বুঝাতে verb এর present continous tense হয় । এক্ষেত্রে বর্তমান সময়ে ( যেমন- now , at this moment ইত্যাদি ) উল্লেখ থাকে।
Prob: He ( sing ) a song now.
Ans. He is singing a song now.
Rule - 27: Since এর প্রথম অংশ Present Indefinite / Present Perfect Tense হলে পরের অংশ Present Indefinite হয়।
Prob: It is many years since I ( come ) to Dhaka.
Ans. It is many years since I came to Dhaka.
Rule - 28 : Since এর প্রথম অংশ Present Indefinite হলে পরের অংশ Past Perfect করতে হবে।
Prob: It was long since I see her last.
Ans. It was long since I had seen her last.
Rule - 29: ব্রাকেটের Verb এর পূর্বের অংশের অর্থাৎ main clause এর Verb টি past tense- এর হলে এবং পরের অংশে next এর পরে (next day, next week, next month , next year ইত্যাদি) উল্লেখ থাকলে ব্রাকেটের verb এর পূর্বে would / should বসে। এ ক্ষেত্রে ব্রাকেটের verb টির present form হয়।
Prob: He said that he ( go ) home the next day.
Ans. He said that he would go home the next day.
Rule - 30: Am , is , are , was , were to be verb এর পর এর passive voice এর ক্ষেত্রে ব্রাকেটের verb- এর past participle হয়।
Prob: The book was ( steal ).
Ans. The book was stolen.
Rule - 31: If clause presents Indefinite tense অপরটি (principal clause টি) Future Indefinite tense হয়।
Prob: If he works hard, he ( shine ) in life.
Ans. If he works hard, he will shine in life.
Rule - 32: If clause f past indefinite a principal clause টির ( অপর অংশটি ) subject এর পরে might / could / would বসে এবং ব্রাকেটের verb টির present form বসে।
Prob: If he came, I ( go ).
Ans. If he came, I would go.
Prob: I would help him if he ( want ).
Ans. I would help him if he wanted.
Rule - 33: Had + subject + past participle sentence শুরুতে হলে অপরটির perfect conditional হয় e subject would have / could have / might have বসে এবং ব্রাকেটের verb এর past participle হয়।
Prob: Had I been a king, I ( help ) the poor.
Ans. Had I been a king, I would have helped the poor.
Rule - 34: কোন কাজ পূর্বে শুরু হয়ে এখনও চলতেছে বুঝালে verb present perfect continous tense.
Prob: It ( rain ) since morning.
Ans. It has been raining since morning.
Rule - 35: While এর ঠিক পরেই ব্রাকেটের মধ্যে যে ক্রিয়া থাকে তার সাথে ing যোগ হয় । কিন্তু while এর পরে subject থাকলে while এর অংশটি past continuous tense হয়।
Prob: While ( walk ) in the garden, snake bit him.
Ans. While walking in the garden, snake bit him.
Rule - 36: কোন sentense এর verb তার subject এর number এবং person অনুযায়ী ব্যবহৃত হয় অর্থাৎ subject singular হলে verb singular হয় এবং subject plural হলে verb plural হয়।
Prob: The color of his eyes ( be ) blue.
Ans. The color of his eyes is blue.
Prob: The players in the field ( be ) strong.
Ans. The players in the field are strong.
Rule - 37: একই দৈর্ঘ্য , পরিমাণ বা স্থান বুঝালে subject দেখতে plural হলে verb singular হয়।
Prob: Fifty miles ( be ) a long way.
Ans. Fifty miles is a long way.
